Managing COVID-19, Ensuring Plant Health

4 Apr | Featured, Horticultural Service, Phoenix Plant Service

We all know about the cancellations due to Coronavirus fears – no March Madness, no NBA, no golf tournaments. Disneyland is closed, Coachella has been postponed until later in the year, even the Boston Marathon has been postponed. While very difficult, these decisions are the right ones for public safety.

Viruses can spread rapidly, particularly in large gatherings. It only takes one infected individual to infect many others. Organizations grappling with difficult choices have to err on the side of caution to protect their fans, their constituents, their loved ones. It’s hard, but it’s important. The Interior Landscaping industry is no exception.

We’ve been taking many precautions to protect not only our employees but our clients’ employees as well. The best news is that the plants in your office are already working to protect your employees’ health – they are cleaning the air as we speak. That you chose to have plants in your workplace shows that you know the value of having hard-working partners (the plants) that you can trust. They are designed by Nature to make the air in your office more breathable, more livable.

Here at Plant Solutions, we want to assure you that we’re following both federal guidelines as well as industry guidelines to keep everyone safe from harm. From the National Interiorscape Network (NIN), we’ve adopted these guidelines:

Employees are reminded of the following:
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Wash your hands frequently with warm, soapy water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Cover your mouth with tissues whenever you sneeze, and discard used tissues in the trash.
  • Avoid people who are sick with respiratory symptoms.
  • Clean frequently touched surfaces.

In addition to these common sense practices, we’ve also talked with our employees about being respectful of the virus and using hand sanitizer frequently. We’ve let everyone know that staying safe is most important to us.

One of the unique challenges our industry faces is what to do if a client orders their employees to stay home until the danger passes. How will the plants get cared for if the office is closed? We’ve been working with clients to address these concerns. One option is to have security guards give our technicians access to the plants while everyone is away.

We are flexible and we will find ways to maintain the health of the plants you’ve purchased or leased, so they can continue to do their best to clean the air of your office, keeping us all safe.

In conclusion, we want to stress that our main goal is to keep everyone safe – your employees, our employees, and the plants. We can face this struggle together, as a team, and weather it for the better. Thank you for your patience, and please don’t hesitate to call if you have any questions or concerns.
